Description
Rex is a big, beautiful, greenwing macaw who is a permanent resident of TGF. She has stunning, deep coloration that looks extra amazing in the sunlight. Unfortunately, Rex came from a neglectful situation and was never habituated to people, so she remains reluctant to interact with her human caretakers. It can be difficult to get her outside, but she is making slow progress towards stepping up more easily for our staff. She is not much interested in interacting with other birds except for Marimba, a blue and gold macaw who is housed with her, so the two get their own private flight when they have a day out in the fresh air.
Inside, Rex can take apart skewers full of wood quite quickly, so we always have to work hard to keep her well supplied with plenty of entertainment. If she is not working on a toy or keeping her feathers in pristine condition, she is content to relax and watch Marimba try to get himself into trouble until dinner time when she can munch on some tasty nuts and salad.
