Juliette – Blue-Throated Macaw

Description

Juliette is a female blue-throated macaw who hatched in 1997. She was bred by a large facility in Florida, brokered at 6 weeks of age in Arizona, sold to a women ?for decoration? where she lived in a bamboo cage, and was eventually sent home for eating the same bamboo cage. Juliet was then purchased by a vet student who moved in with her parents just to be given an ultimatum in order to get rid of the bird. Juliette made it to The Gabriel foundation in 1998 where she met her life companion of the same species, Alphonse. Juliette and Alphonse are 2 of roughly 100 blue-throated macaws that are known to exist in the wild. They will be together for life as a measure for conservation. Juliette enjoys waving either a wing or foot to say hello.
