Description
Fredie came to The Gabriel Foundation in 2025. Fredie was originally located in Alaska, where she struggled from chronic cloacal prolapsing in a home. After being taken into a medical foster placement with The Alaska Bird Club, they reached out to us after it was determined that she would need more advanced medical care that they did not have access to. Their fundraising efforts secured Fredie a flight to CO and we were able to have her evaluated by the team at Colorado Exotic Animal Hospital. Our team raised over $7,500 for her cloacoplexy surgery, which was a major success! Due to the complexity of cloacal prolapsing and related treatments, it is critical for our team at TGF to closely monitor her healing as well as the success of the surgery long-term. Many birds often need revisional surgeries or experience complications months to years after their initial treatment. Along with the medical aspects, there is a crucial behavioral portion to address to prevent further prolapsing down the line.
Despite all of the change that Fredie has experienced, she remains a bubbly and charismatic bird. Her cage sits at our front doors and she has proven herself to be the best lobby ambassador anyone could ask for, greeting everyone she encounters with a, “Hi Fredie!” and a head-banging dance to start your TGF visit out right! Fredie is only in her teens, meaning she has many decades of care ahead of her. You can be apart of Fredie’s journey of change by supporting her care through sponsorship. Each donor makes a direct impact on the birds they support and Fredie is a true testimate that it only takes just a few dedicated people to change someone’s (or somebirdy’s) life forever.
