The Gabriel Foundation, begun in 1995, is a 501(c)(3) avicultural and veterinary affiliated parrot welfare organization licensed by the State of Colorado and the USDA, whose purpose is to provide safe sanctuary and care for parrots in need, match extraordinary birds with caring adopters, and to inspire and encourage all to responsibly improve the lives of companion parrots.
Our 7 programs are: Education and Outreach, Parrot Welfare, Adoption, Rehabilitation, Rescue, Sanctuary, and Conservation. We practice and promote avian welfare for the birds in our care, for adopters, and for those in the public domain.
Our mission is to serve as a research and educational model to the public-at-large, the veterinary medical community, the pet industry, humane animal welfare organizations and to the avicultural community and affiliated organizations about the need to provide appropriately for the welfare of parrots in captivity. We believe that public EDUCATION is the tool of choice to better the quality of life of parrots in captivity and to help preserve the world’s parrots in their wild habitats. When we know more, we do better.
