OUTREACH

Our primary focus during outreach events is to engage with the public regarding parrot welfare with the assistance of animal ambassadors. We are happy to coordinate classroom or other outreach presentations, toymaking supplies and guidance, and attendance at booth events like annual art fairs or small festivals. Whenever possible, we attend national and international conferences and symposiums.

On-Site Events

We host a variety of on-site events, including toy making workshops, chop workshops, large volunteer group workdays, and other seasonal events. You can always check our Facebook to see whether we have any events coming up!

Events we have hosted recently include:

– Toy workshops with groups from Ameriprise, Girl Scouts, Pikes Peak Community College, and Colorado State University’s PSM-ZAASM program

– Large volunteer workdays for Eagle Scout projects or other organizations like Elizabeth High School and Screen Pilot

We welcome veterinary groups to contact us if they would like to organize a staff training day for safe restraint, blood draws, grooming, or physical examination. We have previously done off-site veterinary training events as well as hosting groups in our clinic at the aviary to train alongside our staff.

Our tour program is another way to come on-site and find out more about what we do. We have facilitated larger group tours from organizations including RSPCA Brisbane, Malley Recreation Center, To The Rescue, Well Power, and the Douglas Garden Club.

Off-Site Events

Reaching out to educate and engage with our community is a delightful piece of the work we do. In outreach events, we focus on spreading awareness about parrot welfare to those who may not otherwise think to visit our aviary! Off-site outreach we have been up to lately includes:

 – Booth events including the Hilltop Art Fair and Lavender Festival

 – Educational outreach and facilitating toy making in schools including Elizabeth Middle School, Singing Hills Elementary, and Colorado State University

 – We are always open to new off-site event ideas from our community!

With few exceptions, we are unable to travel farther than an hour from our facility for off-site events due to limited staff availability and consideration of travel times for our animal ambassadors. Please note that certain off-site events may incur a fee to cover travel and staff time.

Please submit an event request form if you would like to inquire about an outreach event:
