11/8/14 TBB Toy Making Workshop

20141108_11152920141108_102300Last weekend TBB hosted our last 2014 Toy Making Workshop with longtime friend and toy making guru, Andrea Frederick. We had the biggest turn out yet with close to thirty people in attendance! Andrea instructed the group on how to make small bird toys, foraging toys, repurposed toys from old toy parts, and large bird toys until the sisal rope was gone. This enthusiastic group of people made more toys than we can count! The birds are loving their early Christmas presents and have been diligently trying to destroy all their new goodies. A GIANT thank you from  TGF staff to everyone who participated! Your feedback has given us new ideas to improve these successful events. The people  turnout was more than we could have asked for and a great way to kick off the holiday season. Stay tuned for more fun holiday treats and events!

Thoughts for a Sunday morning.
With much bird and animal tragedy in recent news stories, we often feel helpless about what can we do. How can we help? If we care about animals' welfare, how does that label us? Clarity on the differences between Animal Welfare and Animal Rights is a good place to start. Understanding how we evaluate animals' care when we apply the Five Freedoms for TGF's flock is central to our approach to our birds' welfare. What do you think? Share your ideas and photos with us about what these concepts mean to you. webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20121010012427/http://www.fawc.org.uk/freedoms.htm
